Social Arrangements had the privilege of assisting with the inaugural Celebration of Smiles benefit event on Thursday, May 19, 2007, in the Murphy Ballroom at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. Celebration of Smiles (COS) was hosted by the Atlanta Chapter of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry’s Charitable Foundation – “Give Back a Smile.” Members of the foundation are dentists and ceramists from all over the United States who volunteer their time and talent to restore the smiles and the teeth of domestic violence victims.
Social Arrangements was instrumental in the coordination of many aspects of the evening’s agenda, including two different dinners being served at the same time. While a meal was being served to 600 attendees of the conference, a private VIP dinner for 150 guests was happening simultaneously. In addition, 30 other VIPs were treated to a special private pre-concert reception with legendary country singer Kenny Rogers, who later performed live for all guests during the evening’s festivities.
Prior to the concert, COS presented a fashion show with local Atlanta celebrities including “Project Runway” designer Michael Knight, WXIA-TV anchor Karyn Greer, former POW Ron Young, Extreme Makeover’s Dr. Bill Dorfman, DeKalb County CEO Vernon Jones, and Fox 5 “Good Day Atlanta” host Suchita Vaglamani. Professional models as well as select domestic abuse survivors also appeared on the catwalk. The newest fashion trends were unveiled, showcasing lines from Jeffrey Atlanta, Tootsies and Dillard’s. Social Arrangements served as liaison and worked with the venue, the production team, and the fashion show producer in coordinating efforts to help produce a flawless show and a memorable evening.
A highlight of the event was a live auction and raffle emceed by local personalities Wes Sarginson, WXIA-TV anchor; Ryan Cameron, WXIA-TV “Atlanta & Co.” host and V-103 FM afternoon disc jockey; and Steve Rayman, owner of Steve Rayman Chrysler Jeep Dodge.
Kenny Rogers’ live performance thrilled the guests, and the audience was treated to a surprise appearance by his 3-year-old twin sons and his wife Wanda with a special family song. Social Arrangements produced and executed a complete timeline and stayed on top of the details including the evening’s entertainment.
